It’s no secret that we at Hog Roast Marple are proud meat enthusiasts, but in the spirit of World Vegetarian Day on October 1st, we were happy to swap our beloved hog for something a little greener! We had the fantastic opportunity to showcase our veggie and vegan dishes at a school-run event here in Manchester, organised by the PTA. Their goal? To demonstrate to kids that non-meat options can be just as tasty and nutritious as their carnivorous counterparts.
As a hog roast caterer, it’s a rare occasion for us to serve a fully non-meat menu, so we were all in for the challenge! Hog Roast Marple was excited to create a bespoke banquet that would stomp out any carnivorous cravings the kids might have. We rustled up an impressive spread featuring juicy veggie burgers, savoury veggie sausages, grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers with zesty tzatziki dip, and our famous BBQ-pulled jackfruit buns topped with creamy plant-based coleslaw. Yum!
To add even more vibrancy to the feast, we served a selection of colourful salads and roasted new potatoes on the side. The bright greens and earthy tones brought life to the table, making it visually appealing and oh-so-tasty. And, just as the organisers had hoped, the kids went wild for the food! In fact, many couldn’t even tell the difference between our non-meat options and the real thing—yes, we are THAT good!
We had an absolute blast at this event, and it provided us with a wonderful opportunity to showcase how inclusive and diverse Hog Roast Marple’s menu truly is.
