For Julia, her perfect birthday party is a day in the garden surrounded by her four children, her extended family, and her best friends. For her 40th birthday, her eldest daughter organised a party just like this, with picnic blankets across the grass, fairy lights across the fences, a playlist of Julia’s favourite music, and a menu provided by Hog Roast Milnrow. For the catering, our team was hired to serve a classic hog roast for the occasion, with enough for 40 guests to enjoy. The hog would be the star of the menu, but there also needed to be a tasty meat-free option and a selection of delicious side dishes for everyone to enjoy.
On the day of the event, the Hog Roast Milnrow team arrived at the family home in the morning and began setting up our catering station. We started by slow-roasting the hog and allowing it to cook for around five hours. Once ready, the pork was expertly carved and served alongside fresh bread rolls, sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. For meat-free guests, we served BBQ-pulled jackfruit, which is a delicious and filling alternative to pulled pork. Additionally, we served homemade chips, gourmet coleslaw, corn cobettes, and a green leaf salad. Overall, our menu had plenty for everyone to enjoy, with more than enough to go around. Our catering was a great addition to the event and it was great to see Julia enjoying her birthday surrounded by all of her favourite people.
